Marquette ranked No. 4 and Indiana State back in AP Top 25 for first time since Larry Bird era in college basketball

In the latest AP Top 25 men’s college basketball rankings, the top two teams remained unchanged for a fifth straight week. UConn and Purdue held onto their positions at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively. However, 17 ranked teams suffered at least one loss, leading to a reshuffle in the rankings.

One of the biggest movers was Marquette, which rose three spots to No. 4 after taking advantage of losses by other top-ranked teams, including Kansas, North Carolina, and Tennessee. Iowa State also made a significant leap up four spots to No. 10 after winning key games against these teams.

Arizona also made a comeback in the rankings after winning seven out of eight Pac-12 games and moving into fifth place in the AP poll. Meanwhile, Indiana State made its first appearance in the rankings since the late 1970s with wins over Valpo and Missouri State and was listed at No. 23 this week.

UConn remains atop the rankings, followed closely by Purdue at No. 2. Houston ranks third in the poll, while Marquette is now fourth and Arizona is fifth on this week’s list of top teams in men’s college basketball
