The Banski dvor has recently approved a compensation plan for former Minister of Defense Marij Banožić, granting him the full ministerial salary for the next six months and half of that salary for the following six months. This decision came in response to a request from Banožić’s lawyer, who also recently withdrew a request to activate and suspend his parliamentary mandate due to personal reasons.

Prior to this decision, the Mandate and Immunity Committee had been preparing to discuss and decide on the request. However, due to the lawyer’s withdrawal of the request, the session was cancelled. It is worth noting that previously, the MIP had expressed their readiness to comply with the lawyer’s request to activate Banožić and then suspend his parliamentary mandate after reviewing the documentation.

Banožić’s net salary in his former role was 2,740 euros per month. The compensation plan will provide financial support for him during this period of transition as he prepares for his future endeavors. The government has stated that this compensation is intended to be a one-time payment and not an ongoing benefit.
