Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun to retire in 2024

Boeing is undergoing a major shakeup as three top executives are set to leave the company. These include CEO Dave Calhoun, board chair Larry Kellner, and head of commercial airplanes Stan Deal. The news comes after increased scrutiny following quality control issues that were revealed after a piece of an Alaska Airlines jet fell off during a flight in January.

Dave Calhoun, who joined Boeing’s board of directors 10 years ago and took over as CEO in 2020, is set to leave at the end of 2024. He is known for his operational skills, direct communication style, and crisis management expertise. However, the incident with the Alaska Airlines plane and subsequent revelations about Boeing’s manufacturing and quality control processes have prompted the need for new leadership.

Larry Kellner has announced that he will not seek re-election at the upcoming shareholder meeting. He has been on Boeing’s board since 1987 and served as chairman since 2017. His departure marks the end of an era for the company.

Stan Deal will retire from his position as head of commercial airplanes effective Monday. He has been with Boeing since 1983 and has held several key positions within the company before taking on his current role in 2015. His departure is another blow to Boeing as it continues to grapple with quality control issues following the incident with the Alaska Airlines jet.

This situation is still unfolding and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
