In response to a fire at Martinez Renewable Fuels (Marathon Refinery), a hazardous materials team from Contra Costa Health was dispatched to assess the potential impact on surrounding areas. As a result, a public health advisory was issued for Martinez, Pacheco, Concord and Clyde, directing people to visit http://cchealth.org/hazmat for more information. However, shortly after the public health advisory was issued, the fire at Martinez Renewable Fuels was brought under control and the advisory for these areas was lifted.

Following this incident, CCH updated their website at 3:54 a.m. to report a flaring incident at Marathon Martinez that may be visible to the surrounding community. They later issued an “all clear” for Martinez, Pacheco, Concord and Clyde on their website, indicating that the situation was resolved.
