After a stint away from the NFL, Joe Flacco is making a return to the AFC North. The former Ravens quarterback and Super Bowl XLVII MVP has been confirmed to sign with the Browns’ practice squad on Monday, following a successful workout with the team on Friday. According to sources, the Browns were highly impressed with his performance and offered him a position as a result.
Flacco, who is 38 years old, has been eager to play this season but had not received any significant interest until last week. The Bengals showed no interest in him after learning that their starting quarterback Joe Burrow would miss the rest of the year. With Deshaun Watson out for the rest of the season due to knee and shoulder injuries, the Browns decided to look for additional options at quarterback.
As a first-round pick in 2008, Flacco has previously played for several teams including the Ravens, Broncos, Jets, and Eagles. His return to the AFC North could potentially have an impact on the division.
