In the small settlement of Mravince, just below Mosor in the Municipality of Solin, a tragedy occurred that has left the public speechless. This marks the third time in two months that such an incident has taken place. On Sunday morning, a 52-year-old bus driver from HNK Sloga Mravince died while driving the team’s football players to Biograd. In his last moments, he managed to slow down the bus and turn onto the stop lane of the highway. Behind him was coach Ivica Žuljević, who tried to resuscitate him but without success.
The loss of life is tragic, but it is not just this event that is causing people to reflect on what could have been if it were not for the driver’s quick thinking and prudence. The subject is gray and somber like a southern-tinged morning, as no one wants to speculate on what might have happened had he lost control of the bus at high speed. The only thing that can be said for certain is that thanks to his heroic act and his selflessness, lives were saved.
While waiting for the arrival of an ambulance from Zadar, club physiotherapist and president Dr. Zdravko Perko tried their best to resuscitate him. However, despite their efforts, they were unable to save him. Despite this tragic loss, everyone who knew him remains composed and grateful for his service. He was extremely dear to everyone in Sloga and was well-respected by all who knew him.
This tragedy marks yet another unfortunate incident involving HNK Sloga Mravince over the past few months. Just two months ago there were two separate incidents involving members of the team – Marko Bakotić was seriously injured in an accident while Antonela Bakotić lost her life when their bus landed near Venice; 19-year-old Ante Kljaković-Šantić also died in a hospital after landing in Dugopolje with two others in a BMW car crash with three others involved . These events have left many people feeling overwhelmed and frustrated with what seems like an endless cycle of misfortune surrounding this particular team
