In New York, the Fulton Police Department was successful in locating a missing vulnerable person using a drone. The person was reported missing by their family on Monday evening and the police quickly mobilized a drone operator to assist in the search and rescue effort.
At approximately 7:50 p.m., the drone was deployed around the 600 block of Gansvoort Street. With the use of thermal imaging, the drone operator was able to locate the missing person at approximately 8:12 p.m. The operator then directed ground units to the location.
The missing person was found to be in good health and was helped out of the woods by officers. They were then reunited with their family. Deputy Chief Chris Dempsey emphasized the importance of using cutting-edge technology for the safety of the community and officers in this successful recovery effort.
