One person killed in shooting as gunman flees New York subway

One person was killed and five others were injured in a shooting that took place at a subway station in New York City. The incident occurred on an elevated train platform in the Bronx around 4:30 p.m., during a busy time when many children were returning home from school and commuters were starting their evening travels.

Witnesses to this tragic event described what they saw: “I heard screams and gunshots,” said Efrain Feliciano, 61, to the Daily News. “There were at least six shots fired,” he continued. “I saw sparks when the bullets hit the wall.” A woman who was holding a screaming child in her arms also reported seeing the incident. According to police suspects, the shooting resulted from an argument that ended with one person pulling out a gun and opening fire on their assailant or assailants.
