Seniors in El Paso Learn about Health Technology from Department of Public Health

The El Paso Department of Public Health (DPH) is hosting a technology and innovation event at the Fabens Senior Center as part of their Health Week initiative. The goal of the event is to educate seniors on new technology tools available to help them use their cell phones for health-related purposes.

The session will be divided into two groups – one for seniors with iOS phones and one for those without Apple phones. Eight educators will be on hand to assist and answer any questions. Rosalyn Negron, a public health education and prevention specialist with the City of El Paso, emphasized the importance of raising awareness and providing access to technology features for the older generation.

With the goal of teaching seniors how to track physical activity, add emergency contacts, and set up automatic 911 calls in case of emergencies, the event is set to kick off at 10:00 a.m. at the Fabens Senior Center. The event is funded by the DPH’s CDC Health Equity Grant and is part of the department’s effort to cover the entire El Paso County and provide valuable resources and classes for the community. More information and resources available can be found on the DPH website.
