The World’s Oldest Man, a Venezuelan, Passes Away at 114

Juan Vicente Perez Mora, the world’s oldest man certified by Guinness World Records in 2022, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 114 in Caracas, Venezuela. Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro announced his death on social media, paying tribute to his long and remarkable life.

On February 4, 2022, Perez was officially recognized as the oldest living man when he was 112 years and 253 days old. With a family tree that extended through multiple generations, he had an incredible legacy that will continue to inspire people for years to come.

Born on May 27, 1909, in the town of El Cobre in the Andean state of Tachira, Perez grew up as the ninth of 10 children. He began working in agriculture at a young age, assisting his father and brothers with tasks like sugar cane and coffee harvesting. Over time, he became a respected figure in his community and even served as a sheriff while continuing his work in agriculture.

Known affectionately as Tio Vicente, Perez left a lasting impact on those around him through his dedication and wisdom. His passing has been deeply felt by many who knew him personally and also by those who were inspired by his story from afar.
