Kapil Dev, the former India captain who led the team to their maiden ODI World Cup title in 1983, has revealed that he was not invited to the World Cup final between India and Australia. Despite expressing his desire to travel for the game with his teammates, Kapil stated that he was not called and therefore did not attend.

Kapil expressed his disappointment at being excluded from the match and mentioned that he wished the entire 1983 team could have been present with him. He suggested that the oversight may have been due to the busyness and responsibilities involved in organizing such a large event.

However, other former India captains, including Sourav Ganguly, who was present as a former BCCI president, attended the match. The BCCI’s tradition of inviting past presidents and officials was observed with Ganguly’s participation in the event.

The high-profile match also attracted several celebrities in attendance, including actors Shahrukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Ranveer Singh. Additionally, badminton legend Prakash Padukone was among those seen cheering on India from the stands at Narendra Modi Stadium.

Overall, while Kapil Dev was disappointed at being left out of the squad for this historic matchup between two of cricket’s biggest rivals, it is clear that there were many other notable figures who were excited to witness this momentous occasion live in person.
