The New York Jets had high hopes for the 2023 season with the addition of quarterback Aaron Rodgers. However, their plans were put on hold when Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles on the first offensive drive of the season. Despite this setback, the Jets are optimistic about their future with Rodgers at the helm. They have surrounded him with familiar talent such as Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb and reportedly tried to trade for Las Vegas Raiders wideout Davante Adams.

There have been rumors that the Jets may not be finished trying to recreate the dynamic duo that Adams and Rodgers had in Green Bay. ESPN reports that sources expect the Jets to make another attempt at acquiring Adams in the upcoming offseason. However, it remains uncertain if Adams would want to leave his current team despite his frustration with their struggles. There have also been reports that Adams is a believer in rookie quarterback Aidan O’Connell, who has now replaced Jimmy Garoppolo as the starter.

The Jets have been monitoring Adams since acquiring Rodgers, and ESPN’s sources believe that his departure from Oakland could depend on how he performs during the 2023 season. It is worth noting that Adams signed a five-year, $140 million deal with Oakland last year, making him one of the highest-paid receivers in terms of total value and annual average value (AAV).

During his time with Oakland, Adams has recorded an impressive 5.8 receptions per game and 80.6 receiving yards per game while scoring 17 touchdowns in just 27 games played. In fact, he led the league in touchdown receptions in 2021 with 14 grabs alone.

Overall, while there are challenges ahead for both teams, there is no doubt that these two talented players will continue to make waves in their respective leagues for years to come.
