Embrace your wild side this April at the Natural Science Museum in Lawrence County

In April, the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science is hosting a range of exciting events that are perfect for visitors of all ages. The museum’s director, Charles Knight, is thrilled to provide these opportunities for the local community to connect with each other and appreciate the wonders of nature.

One of the highlights of the month is the Solar Eclipse Event on Monday, April 8 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tickets for this event must be booked in advance, with a $10 fee that includes eclipse glasses. Participants can join NASA Astro Camp Specialists and museum educators for hands-on activities and witness the 90% eclipse of the sun. Food trucks will also be on site for an additional cost.

On Saturday, April 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Naturefest will take place at the museum. This event features encounters with live animals from Hattiesburg Zoo and Freedom Ranch Outreach Education, meeting Crayfish Man, exploring research labs at MMNS Foundation Membership or Museum admission, giant foam party, purchasing plants from Camp Creek Native Plants, checking out “Attack of the Bloodsuckers!” exhibit and navigating Spotter’s Adventure Trail to LeFleur’s Bluff Playground. Food trucks will also be present at this event for an additional cost.

The Moonlight Music and Meteors event is scheduled for Friday, April 19 from 7:30 pm to 10 pm at “The Den” in LeFleur’s Bluff State Park within Mississippi Symphony Orchestra and area physicists, astronomers and NASA solar system ambassadors during Lyrid meteor shower . Advance tickets are available until April 18th at noon for $15 or $20 at the door after that time .

The Mississippi Museum of Natural Science is located at 2148 Riverside Drive in Jackson within LeFleur’s Bluff State Park . Admission prices are $8 for adults , $6 for youth aged between 3-18 years old and $7 for seniors aged between 60-plus years old .
