Special solar eclipse event offered at Kentucky Science Center

The Kentucky Science Center in Louisville is hosting a special event on April 8 from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. to commemorate the upcoming solar eclipse. The event will take place at the center’s 50,000 square feet of space and feature a range of educational activities for all ages.

Guests can participate in activities such as creating pinhole cameras, watching live coverage of the eclipse from NASA, and engaging in educational activities about gravity and UV rays. Additionally, documentary screenings of Journey to Space 3-D will be available in the center’s four-story theater, exploring NASA’s Space Shuttle program and other space-related topics.

The Kentucky Science Center CEO Mike Norman expressed his excitement about hosting this event and the opportunity to engage with guests from the region, explaining the science behind the eclipse. This event is made possible in part by a NASA Kentucky Space Grant. The Kentucky Science Center is located at 727 W. Main Street and is open seven days a week from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In addition to these activities, attendees will have access to all of the center’s exhibits, including special programming throughout the galleries that will be tailored specifically to the eclipse event. A limited number of eclipse glasses will also be distributed free of charge to attendees during this time.

The Kentucky Science Center is excited for everyone who plans on attending this unique event that celebrates science and exploration while providing an opportunity for people from all walks of life to come together and appreciate nature’s most magnificent displays.
