Expert Stresses the Importance of Interdisciplinary Collaboration in Biological Science on RGCB’s Anniversary

At a lecture hosted at the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, former Director of the National Centre for Biological Sciences, Satyajit Mayor, highlighted the significance of interdisciplinary work in the field of biological science. He encouraged attendees to embrace an approach that combines individuals from diverse disciplines to create more innovative and effective problem-solving methods.

As a distinguished botanist, Dr. Mayor emphasized the importance of exploring the intersection between physics and biology, where concepts from one domain can be applied to another. He urged researchers to view biological phenomena through a multidisciplinary perspective.

Professor Chandrabhas Narayana, director of RGCB, spoke about the institution’s dedication to research and knowledge dissemination. He also mentioned that RGCB has recently introduced new equipment and established an incubation hub at its Akkulam campus in the capital city.

During the event, several awards were presented, including the M.R. Das Student Merit Award 2023, P.K. Iyengar Award for Best Thesis, and Best Teachers Awards.

Overall, this lecture emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary work in biological science and highlighted RGCB’s commitment to advancing research and knowledge sharing through new equipment and incubation hubs.
