Live Stream: Federal Reserve Chair Powell Speaks at Stanford Economic Policy Conference

Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell is set to speak at the Stanford Business, Government, and Society forum on June 12th at 12:10 p.m. ET. If you do not see a player above at that time, please refresh the page. During his prepared remarks, Powell will discuss the Fed’s need for more evidence of inflation easing before considering cutting interest rates.

Powell emphasized this point during the Fed’s meeting last month, indicating that interest rates are likely to be lowered later this year but the timing is uncertain. He also mentioned that further data is needed to confirm that inflation is moving towards the Fed’s 2% target.

Atlanta Fed President Raphael Bostic has suggested that there could be just one rate cut this year, while other members of the Federal Open Market Committee have indicated three cuts. Markets are currently expecting the Fed to begin easing either in June or July, with a total of three cuts anticipated by the end of 2024.
