47 festival attendees suspected of being poisoned after consuming bread and dumplings

The Co Ong Bon Festival in Lai Thieu, held on April 3, saw many attendees fall ill with symptoms of food poisoning after consuming free bread and dumplings provided by a charity group. A total of 47 people were hospitalized due to the incident, with 5 individuals discharged and 42 others remaining for monitoring. The authorities are currently investigating the cause of the illness and have taken samples of the food for testing.

Meanwhile, the Ong Bon Pagoda Festival is a traditional Chinese event held annually in Binh Duong to honor ancestors of pottery on the 25th day of the lunar calendar. The festival features various rituals, processions, performances, and activities such as lion and dragon dancing. Ong Bon is rotated among temples every four years according to Chinese customs.
