Vermont Green FC faced a tough challenge in the US Open Cup against Carolina Core and ultimately lost 2-1, causing them to be eliminated from the tournament. In the first half, Vermont Green took an early lead when Yaniv Bazini successfully converted a penalty in the 28th minute. Goalkeeper Nathan Schnur made five important saves to keep his team ahead, but Carolina Core fought back in the second half.

Carolina Core’s Papa Ndoye scored a penalty to level the score at 1-1 in the 60th minute, followed by Joshua Rodriguez’s goal in the 70th minute. Despite having several opportunities to equalize, Vermont Green FC was unable to do so and suffered a 2-1 defeat.

After the game, head coach Adam Pfeifer expressed his appreciation for the support from the fans and community despite their loss. He commended his team’s effort against a strong opponent and acknowledged the challenges they faced. The team will now shift their focus to their upcoming USL2 campaign which begins on May 18th against Boston City. They have some time to regroup and prepare for their next season following their exit from the US Open Cup.
