A man who bravely saved a child from a dog attack in Zagreb’s Trešnjeveca yesterday around 3 pm has undergone surgery at the Dubrava Clinical Hospital. The man sustained severe physical injuries to both hands and it is uncertain how his recovery will proceed, as reported by Danas.hr. The hospital confirmed that the man is their employee and that the injuries he has are really serious, including tendon and cartilage injuries. However, they have confirmed that his recovery will follow. They have nothing but praise for their employee and hope for a quick recovery, as they are all moved by his heroic act of defending a child from a rabid dog with his bare hands.
The incident occurred on Saturday in Bernarda Vukas Street when the man saw a child being attacked by a dog. The dog had the child by the hood of his jacket with its teeth, while a woman standing nearby tried to separate the dog from the child by hitting it with a leash. The man immediately sprang into action, jumping on the dog and using his hands to pull it away from the child. In the process, the dog bit his hands several times. Following the attack, the woman with the dog and the child moved away, leaving the man to be taken to KB Dubrava, leaving everyone shocked by the actions of the dog’s owner, who simply walked away after the attack. A criminal investigation is currently underway.
