In the 2024 Super Bowl, the Kansas City Chiefs emerged victorious thanks to a Mecole Hardman touchdown catch in overtime. Though Jim Nantz and Tony Romo were calling the television broadcast for CBS, Kevin Harlan provided an epic call of his own via a radio broadcast.
Harlan, who began his football broadcasting career as the voice of the Chiefs, was the play-by-play announcer for Westwood One Sports Radio’s Super Bowl broadcast on Sunday. As San Francisco 49ers scored first to begin overtime, Harlan was on the call for the Chiefs’ ensuing drive, including the Super Bowl-winning touchdown pass to Hardman.
“It’s caught! Hardman caught the ball! The Chiefs have won!” Harlan exclaimed on the call. His dramatic call added excitement and intensity to what was already a thrilling game.
The success of Westwood One Sports Radio’s Super Bowl coverage can be attributed in part to Harlan’s expertise and passion for football broadcasting. He has been calling games for Westwood One since 2013 and has become one of their most trusted voices in NFL football.
