Miami has long been viewed negatively by sports fans, but a recent study by Wallethub has changed that perception. According to the study, Miami is now ranked among the best sports cities in the country.
The study ranked Miami as the 6th best sports city in the nation, behind Los Angeles, Boston, Pittsburgh, New York and Dallas. Wallethub analyzed 397 U.S. cities and combined their previous rankings on football, basketball, baseball, soccer and hockey to determine the rankings.
To calculate the rankings, Wallethub used a unique method that combined the results of 5 individual rankings based on each sport and assigned a weight to each category based on the total percentage of adults who claim to watch that particular sport. They then graded each category on a 100-point scale and determined each city’s weighted average across all categories to calculate its overall score.
In terms of individual sports rankings, Miami was placed 7th in football, 6th in basketball, 26th in baseball, 7th in soccer and 450th in hockey. However, despite its low ranking for hockey
