The annual health fair hosted by Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital in Newberg, West Virginia was a huge success. This event has been part of the hospital’s community outreach programs since 2003 and is co-hosted by the Newberg Rotary Club. Staff from Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital’s Laboratory, Cardiac Rehabilitation, Trauma, and Primary Care – Fellowsville, along with the Newberg Rotary Club, Newberg Senior Center, and ten other healthcare and community agencies collaborated to put on the health fair.
The health fair offered low-cost blood screenings, free vision screenings, and free blood pressure screenings, as well as educational resources on various health topics such as organ donation, stroke and heart attack symptoms, substance use prevention, respiratory care, and more. The event attracted a large number of people from the community who were eager to learn more about their health and take advantage of the free screenings.
Melissa Lockwood, Chief Administrative Officer of Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital expressed her satisfaction with the turnout at the event. She said that these health fairs are an important part of the hospital’s mission to enhance the health of the communities they serve. By partnering with local organizations to educate and expand access to healthcare in rural areas, Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital is making a real difference in people’s lives.
