Gordon Giricek (46) had a successful career playing for teams such as Cibona, CSKA Moscow, Fenerbahce, and five clubs in the NBA. He wore the jerseys of the Memphis Grizzlies, Orlando Magic, Utah Jazz, Philadelphia 76ers, and Phoenix Suns. Even years after his involvement in Memphis, stories still circulate about his ‘rookie’ days in America.
One story that has emerged is from former playmaker Jason Williams, who recalls how Giricek’s arrival in Memphis was not considered a ‘rookie’ by most. However, his teammates Ike Austin and Grant Long decided to test him by asking him to bring them donuts the following morning. When Giricek failed to do so, they proceeded to throw away his clothes, tie his hands and feet, and throw him naked into a container filled with ice and water.
Despite these past experiences, Giricek is no longer as present in the public eye. His current plan is to simply enjoy life and what he believes he deserves.
