Last month, Lakewood Health System in Staples officially announced the construction of its new 19,270 square-foot Lakewood Cancer Center. The center is set to be completed by the summer of 2025 and will be located just southwest of the clinic, with a groundbreaking scheduled for spring.
The decision to move forward with the Cancer Center was driven by the significant growth of Lakewood’s oncology team and services over the past two years. Additionally, there has been a steady increase in provider coverage, making an expansion necessary.
The state-of-the-art Cancer Center will feature advanced facilities such as 14 infusion bays, an in-house PET/CT scan machine, and other cutting-edge equipment. The addition of a facility like the Cancer Center in a rural setting like Staples is unprecedented, providing both patients and healthcare workers with access to top-notch care.
Among its amenities, the Cancer Center will have a dedicated reception and waiting area for patients and their families. Oncology case managers will also be conveniently located within the new space for easy access to patients during their treatment process. This project represents a significant step forward for local healthcare and will greatly benefit the community.
