Pittsburgh has once again made its mark on the world stage with Forbes releasing its annual list of the world’s billionaires, featuring multiple individuals with strong ties to the Steel City. The 2024 list includes a total of 2,781 billionaires, with a combined net worth of $14.2 trillion. Forbes calculated each person’s wealth using stock prices and exchange rates from March 8, 2024.

Maggie Hardy, Mark Cuban, David Tepper, Thomas Tull and Ron Burkle are all individuals with strong connections to Pittsburgh that made it onto the list. Hardy, the owner and CEO of 84 Lumber, holds a net worth of $4.1 billion and took over the company from her father who founded it. Cuban, with a net worth of $5.4 billion, recently sold his majority stake in the Dallas Mavericks and has roots in Pittsburgh’s Stanton Heights neighborhood. Tepper, known as one of the greatest hedge fund managers of his generation, ranked No. 94 with a net worth of $20.6 billion and owns the Carolina Panthers and has roots in Pittsburgh’s Stanton Heights neighborhood as well. Tull has a minority stake in the Pittsburgh Steelers while Burkle is a minority stakeholder in the Pittsburgh Penguins.
