Andy Reid is in favor of the proposed new kickoff rule and is optimistic about its approval.

The Competition Committee presented a radical change to NFL kickoffs at a recent league meeting. The proposal was to have 10 players on each team line up only five yards apart during kickoffs, in an effort to decrease injuries while increasing the excitement in the game. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid expressed his support for this idea, stating that he is in favor of the low-impact kickoff rule, similar to what has been attempted in the XFL. If the rule passes, Reid believes it could bring about interesting and exciting changes to the game. However, the outcome of the vote, which requires 24 “yes” votes to pass, is still uncertain.
