New College Basketball Crown Tournament from Fox Sports Set to Debut in 2025 as NIT Rival

The NIT tournament, a consolation tournament for teams that missed out on the NCAA Tournament, is set to take place in Vegas’ MGM Garden Arena and MGM Arena from March 31, 2025, to April 6. AEG is a presenting sponsor of the event, which will be aired on both Fox and FS1. The tournament will consist of 16 teams, with automatic bids going to two squads from the Big Ten, Big 12, and Big East conferences. The remaining teams will be at-large participants.

The NIT has been around since 1938 and serves as a consolation tournament for teams that missed out on the NCAAs. However, some teams opted out of participating this year in order to focus on the transfer portal. Despite this, many schools are still excited about the opportunity to compete in the tournament and prove their worth on the court.

The NIT final will be televised on ESPN and is set to take place on Thursday. It will feature a matchup between Indiana State and Seton Hall. This year’s NIT serves as a reminder that even when things don’t go according to plan, there are always opportunities for redemption and growth in sports.
