Hitachi Vantara, a leading provider of data storage, infrastructure, and hybrid cloud management solutions, has announced a groundbreaking partnership with NVIDIA to develop a new generation of transformative artificial intelligence (AI) solutions. This collaboration will result in the creation of a portfolio of solutions called Hitachi iQ, which aims to simplify the process of generating AI-driven results by combining industry-specific capabilities with existing AI solutions to deliver more relevant outcomes for individual businesses.

The rise of emerging data-intensive technologies such as generative AI is rapidly transforming businesses but also putting additional strain on IT environments. According to a recent report from S&P Global Market Intelligence, only one-third of respondents believe their companies can consistently handle internal demand for AI workloads. The partnership between Hitachi Vantara and NVIDIA aims to address these challenges by introducing hybrid cloud-enabled AI capabilities to accelerate the generation of business insights.

Hitachi Vantara CEO Sheila Rohra emphasized the importance of this partnership, highlighting the company’s ability to leverage its expertise across various industries to support the acceleration of AI-driven digital transformation. This collaboration will merge NVIDIA’s leadership in AI with Hitachi Vantara’s expertise in hybrid cloud infrastructure solutions and services, enabling customers to overcome future challenges and establish a solid foundation for data-driven innovation.

Hitachi iQ solutions will leverage NVIDIA’s latest AI technologies and Hitachi Vantara’s advanced storage platforms to meet market demands and facilitate the digital transformation of enterprises. Customers will be able to choose from a range of consumption models, ensuring optimized performance and a strong return on investment. The first product in the Hitachi iQ portfolio, powered by NVIDIA H100 Tensor Core GPUs, is set to launch in the first quarter of Hitachi’s fiscal year commencing in April 2024. This certified NVIDIA DGX BasePOD solution will include NVIDIA DGX H100 systems and NVIDIA software AI Enterprise, offering a cutting-edge AI architecture for handling complex AI workloads.

NVIDIA vice president Charlie Boyle explained that companies across all industries are establishing AI centers for data intelligence. With Hitachi Vantara’s solutions powered by NVIDIA DGX software and infrastructure, customers will be able to establish AI centers of excellence and enhance their generative AI strategies. As part of this broader collaboration with NVIDIA, Hitachi will focus on developing industry-specific generative AI models particularly for Operational Technology (OT), positioning itself as a leading company in providing tailored AI solutions that support businesses in their data-driven digital transformations.

Overall, this partnership between two industry leaders is set to revolutionize the way businesses approach artificial intelligence by providing them with innovative solutions that enable them to generate valuable insights quickly while addressing some of the most common challenges associated with implementing such technology within IT environments.
