Cooper Health introduces new program providing individualized care

Cooper University Health Care has recently launched a new membership-based primary care practice that provides patients with a more personalized level of care. For a monthly fee of $138, patients can join Direct Primary Care, which is separate from their insurance premiums. This innovative care model includes numerous benefits such as unlimited primary care visits without billing insurance directly, access to the healthcare provider’s cellphone, guaranteed same-day or next-day appointments, extended appointment times, access to the MyCooper electronic health record system, and a range of diagnostic services, preventative screenings, medically necessary referrals to specialists, and more.

Leading this new offering at Cooper are family practitioners Drs. James Runfola and Leonard Ridilla, who have been working in a Direct Primary Care (DPC) office for the past five years. According to Runfola, this model can be particularly beneficial for patients with chronic medical conditions as well as those who desire greater access to their physician at any time. Ridilla added that while this model may not be suitable for everyone, patients who wish to be more engaged with their primary care physician will have the opportunity to do so at Cooper. With this level of access comes the ability to schedule same-day and next-day appointments as well as speak with the provider over the phone after hours.

Dr. Greg Taylor, medical director at Cooper Care Alliance, commented on this unique model’s ability to provide patients with a personalized level of care by offering more time and attention from their doctor. The launch of this program coincided with another exciting addition to the Cooper Health team: former U.S. District Judge John Vazquez, who will be serving as the health care provider’s first chief legal officer. The Direct Primary Care office is located at 89 N. Haddon Ave., Haddonfield
