Romando Johnson, Florida defensive end, plans official visit to Rutgers football team

Rutgers football has secured an official visit from Romando Johnson, a 6-foot-3, 245-pound defensive end from Monarch High School. Johnson, who is ranked as a three-star edge by 247 Sports and placed at No. 32 nationally and No. 60 overall in Florida for the current recruitment cycle, has an impressive offer list that includes schools like Florida, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Louisville, Miami, Penn State, and Tennessee.

Johnson took to social media to announce his upcoming visit to Rutgers. Boston College also extended an offer to him earlier this month. According to 247 Sports, Johnson played in 11 games during the previous season and recorded impressive statistics such as 28 total tackles, three tackles for loss, six sacks, a pass defended and a fumble caused/recovered.

Florida has been an important recruiting pipeline for Rutgers and head coach Greg Schiano. Two of the eight committed players in the 2025 class are from Florida including defensive tackle Jyon Simon who chose Rutgers over schools like Texas, Tennessee and USC. The first commit in the 2025 class for Rutgers was three-star quarterback Sean Ashenfelder who had offers from several other schools as well.

Overall, Rutgers continues to strengthen its recruiting efforts by securing commitments from talented players like Johnson as they build towards the future.
