Sally Beauty and The Black Hair Experience Collaborate to Celebrate Black Hair and Culture with Rooted in Success Event Series

Sally Beauty Introduces ‘Rooted In Science’ Series in Celebration of Black History Month

Sally Beauty, a leading destination for high-quality hair color and care, has collaborated with The Black Hair Experience, an organization dedicated to celebrating Black hair and culture, to debut the first “Rooted in Success” event series. Rooted in Success will start with two pop-up events on Saturday, February 24 in Atlanta, and Saturday, March 16 in Washington, DC.

This spring, active HBCU-enrolled students in the US will receive 10% off in-store and online at Sally Beauty. This is significant as it coincides with Black History and Women’s History Months. The timing of Rooted in Success facilitates engagement between students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), entrepreneurs, Black- and female-founded beauty brands, and consumers. This shows Sally Beauty’s commitment to building an ecosystem that fosters connections within the textured hair community.

The retailer currently carries an extensive assortment of over 100 textured hair brands – over 50 of which are Black-owned or founded. It is also home to six Black-founded emerging brands from Sally Beauty’s small business focused Cultivate Accelerator Program. These brands include national names like SheaMoisture, Kaleidoscope, Mielle Organics, TPH by Taraji among others.

“We believe beauty is a powerful form of self-expression,” said John Goss, president of Sally Beauty. “At Rooted in Success we are showcasing founder-led stories from both emerging and established Black beauty leaders.” The organization is excited to celebrate this partnership through local events year round as they continue to support diversity within the industry.
