String of Restaurant Burglaries on Chicago’s Near North Side: Police Warn Businesses to Be Vigilant

NBC Chicago Seeks Suspects in Spate of Burglaries at North Side Restaurants

A recent string of 12 restaurant burglaries on the Near North Side has prompted Chicago police to issue a warning to businesses in the area. The burglaries, which took place from Jan. 9 through Feb. 6, saw one to three men, as well as a woman, pry open patio doors to the restaurants and steal cash registers and money.

The majority of the burglaries occurred in the morning, with four taking place in the first block of West Kinzie Street and two each in three other blocks – the 600 block of Orleans Street, 100 block of West Kinzie Street, and 100 block of West Illinois Street. Additionally, there was one burglary each in the 800 block of North State Street and the 300 block of West Hubbard Street.

According to officials, the suspects are believed to be between 30 and 35 years old, standing at heights ranging from 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing between 160 and
