On Sunday at 9:35 a.m., a traffic accident occurred on the A1 highway near Drežnik, Karlovac, according to the Karlovac Police Department. The accident was caused by a 55-year-old man driving a passenger car with Ogulin license plates. According to the police, he was traveling at an inappropriate speed in a slight bend and hit the rear of a police vehicle with Zagreb license plates driven by a 56-year-old man.
The force of the impact threw both vehicles into a metal guardrail central belt, after which they bounced back onto the roadway. The 56-year-old driver was seriously injured in the accident, while two others were slightly injured – a 56-year-old man and a 53-year-old passenger from his vehicle. For causing the traffic accident, the 56-year-old driver will be issued a mandatory misdemeanor order, and a report will be forwarded to the competent state attorney.
According to the Karlovac Police Department, this was one of several accidents that occurred on Sunday morning on highways across Croatia. However, due to its severity and location on one of Croatia’s main roads, it has attracted significant attention from local media outlets.
