Travis Head made a spectacular catch to dismiss Rohit Sharma in the first innings of the World Cup match between Australia and India. Sharma had been playing exceptionally well, scoring 47 runs off just 30 deliveries and leading the charge for India. However, in the 10th over, he failed to hit Glenn Maxwell’s delivery and the ball went up over the cover. Head had to act quickly, sprinting after the ball, tracking it over his shoulder, and then timing his jump perfectly to take the catch.
The commentators were impressed by Head’s catch, calling it “one of the greatest catches under pressure you will ever see” and “wonderful.” Matthew Hayden, Shane Watson, and Brad Haddin all praised Head for his fielding effort. Haddin specifically mentioned that for him, Head’s catch was a turning point in the game. After Sharma was dismissed, Australia collected another wicket with Indian player Shreyas Iyer walking back to the pavilion after scoring just four runs.
