Trump’s flying causes trouble for Biden in the polls

A survey conducted by the Wall Street Journal reveals that Donald Trump is currently leading Joe Biden in six of the seven crucial states for the upcoming presidential elections in November 2024. This lead is attributed to concerns about the US economy and the advanced age of the current president. Trump has managed to win back formerly solidly blue states like Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, which are now considered battlegrounds.

In Michigan and Pennsylvania, Trump holds a two-point advantage, while he leads by three points in Wisconsin. In addition, Trump has a lead of four points in Georgia, five points in Nevada, and three points in Arizona. North Carolina is also leaning towards Trump on issues pertaining to the economy, immigration, and fighting inflation. On the other hand, Biden has an advantage on issues related to defending abortion and reproductive rights.

The ongoing conflict in Gaza could have an impact on the November elections both for the White House and Congress. Democratic officials fear that this war could affect their chances of re-election as it has garnered opposition from 55% of Americans and only 18% of Democratic voters. There are concerns that protests against US support for Israel could harm Biden’s re-election campaign as some groups advocate for not voting for him in protest.

Furthermore, there are worries about potential protests at the Chicago convention and at Biden’s rallies and public events due to his decision to attend a NATO summit in Romania during Labor Day weekend instead of celebrating it with his supporters back home. Democratic lawmakers are concerned that these protests could negatively affect Biden’s re-election campaign as they fear a consistent break from Israel may improve his political positioning.

Overall, this survey indicates that while Trump continues to lead in several crucial swing states ahead of November 2024 elections, there are still many factors that could impact his chances of winning re-election such as issues related to abortion rights or conflicts like Gaza or protests against US support for Israel which could harm his popularity among certain groups.
