Vienna Mayor Michael Ludwig has stated that precautions have been taken to allow babies from Gaza to be admitted to hospitals in the city. The city is prioritizing humanity, especially when it comes to children in need. Discussions have already been held with the Vienna Health Association about providing medical care for premature births, although there are currently no concrete plans to bring children from Gaza to Vienna.

The decision was made after operations at Al-Shifa clinic in Gaza City could no longer be maintained due to the ongoing conflict between Hamas and Israel. Fighting broke out after Hamas carried out an attack on October 7th, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of civilians in Israel.
