Vrsar Plane Crash: Firefighters Warn of Fuel Leak Danger

On Sunday, an ultralight aircraft crashed at the airport in Vrsar, causing one person to suffer minor injuries. The incident was reported to the police at approximately 2:30 p.m., and the competent Agency for the Investigation of Accidents in Air, Maritime and Railway Traffic was informed about it. Additionally, an investigation was ordered by the state attorney’s office at the scene, according to Nataša Rogić from PU Istarska.

According to unofficial sources, the Wild Thing WT01 plane fell from a height of 30 to 50 meters. The circumstances surrounding the accident are still being investigated. Firefighters from Poreč arrived on the scene ten minutes after receiving notification of the crash. Although there was no fire involved, there was a risk of one starting as the plane’s wings were broken and it was leaking gasoline.

As a precautionary measure, firefighters poured foam over the plane, closed all tanks, disconnected the battery and pumped out any remaining gasoline from it. The injured passenger was transported by ambulance from the plane following reports that they had gotten out of it themselves after crashing and were alive fortunately.
