During the final clash of the IPL, Zepto has delivered a record number of orders with over 4.5 lakh orders being placed on its platform. This marks the highest ever for the company and is even bigger than Diwali in India. The CEO and Co-Founder of Zepto, Aadit Palicha, stated that this is an event of the decade and that Zepto is the perfect platform for core cricket viewing-day products such as beverages and snacks. This is why they are seeing a major boost in volume today.
In addition to regular orders, Zepto also delivered 2 lakh free Thums Up beverages as part of a partnership with the brand on orders worth more than Rs 300. This partnership has been successful in driving traffic to the platform. Chips, savory snacks, beverages, ice creams, and other processed foods reported a 50%-100% spike in orders compared to a regular Sunday. Even in cities where the festival of Chhath Puja is not celebrated as much, puja flowers experienced a 40% increase in demand compared to a normal Sunday.
Swiggy’s quick commerce arm Instamart was also expecting a record number of users during the final clash according to earlier reports from BQ Prime. With such high demand for food delivery services during this high-profile match, it’s clear that people are relying on these platforms to satisfy their cravings while watching cricket action unfold live on TV or online streaming services like Disney+Hotstar or JioTV.
